Cookie

Yesterday at school assembly Benji was the first winner of Cookie the Golden Statue. Benji won him for being the best singer in the whole school and for making sure that he was being a good role-model in assembly. We are all so proud of you Benji. How cool that the first person to win him was someone from Room 14!

Science

For writing this week we did a science experiment in our class. We learnt about how clouds work and what happens when they fill up with rain. First we made our cloud with shaving cream and added our colourful rain. We used this experience for our writing and we had some great stories.

Our Statistical Investigation.

Today we constructed a pictograph of our favourite insects. Fist we had to choose our favourite one and draw a picture of it on a post it note. Then we grouped all the same ones together on the board and made our graph. We were able to make some statements about it -which insects were the most popular and which ones the least popular. Last we used this information to complete our own pictographs. It turns out we have a wide variety of insects lovers in our class, ranging from butterflies to prey-mantis! We are getting very good at posing our question, collecting the information, graphing it and then making statements.

Getting to know more about you...

Over the last 2 weeks we have been sharing things about ourselves so that we can get to know each other better. Each child was sent home with the task of collecting 3 things to tell us more about them so that they could share these for news back at school. These were great prompts for the children who who can often get a bit star-struck up in font of the class. Everybody shared so well. Here are a couple of pictures of Charley and Caleb sharing their items. Thanks guys.

How many letter in our names?

Today we all compared how many letters were in our names. We read a story about a girl called Chrysanthemum and she had 13 letters. We didn't have anyone in our class that had that many, our longest was Benjamin with 8. We made our names out of cubes and then compared them all on the mat. Then we put them in order from shorted to longest. It was lots of fun.

Obstacle Course

Over the last couple of days it has been super hot when we had planned to go out for fitness, so on Tuesday afternoon Mrs Ward and Mrs DeWit set up an obstacle course. This included some water trays to run through to cool down. It was so much fun the children didn't want to stop.
